I have medium/long curly hair.

Yes but not too much. I also have curly layers which look long when straightened, but when my hair is curly they are so short, so have layers but not too high up on your head. I suppose if you have longish hair don't get them shorter than above your shoulders.

layers could look bad on really curly hair.....if its wavy then it could look good, but i tried wearing my hair curly when i got layers and the sections of my hair that were layered were a lot curlier than the rest of my hair and it kind of looked like a mess.

u should layer it. my hair is like that and it usually comes out great. to be honest my boyfriend the one doing it and he does a really good job. except this one time when my hair was up to my elbow he cut it all the way about an inch under my shoulder with layers. it was short but it was good.
