I have really curly hair. Does anyone know a good style for a haircut?

Right now, my hair is getting long and I want to cut it to make it easier to handle. I also want it to have some sort of shape, but I heard that layering doesn't work well with curly hair. Any suggestions?

I have curly hair too. I like to look at photos on the internet or in magazines to find a photo of a girl that has hair like me. Then I will attempt the cut. Look for the same curlwaves, same color even, same shine texture. Even look for a photo of same facial resembelance. (I don't think I spelled that correctly. LOL )

I am a hair stylist and there is nothing harder than to have someone come in and hand me a photo of something that is totally unreasonable. They hand me photos of hair that is nothing like theirs.

Also, to answer your question. My hair is like Debra Messings, on Will and Grace. My hair is blond though. She has layers in her hair, as do I. Julia Roberts usually has layers. If they are put in correctly, it will look great. I wish I could cut your hair right now to show you how great you could look. Find a stylist in your area with curly hair. u cud cut the bottom in a "v" shape and get a little bit of side bangs, only on one side and about one inch thick, and 4 inches long. that would be a really cute look esp 4 u w/ curly hair..

Layering done right works well, go to a good stylist, and then can minimize any poof you might have with short hair and give u a great short curly style with some layers.

Long layers are ok. You can also get it "thinned out" underneath, to make it less poofy.

leave it long and put jell or mouse in it.. it will give it that i went to the stylist look.. or just cut it to the shoulders..and mouse it up..go to a good stylist and tell them what you would like.. look at the books they have there.. if it is really really curly they may not can straighten it..but they can style it in the short curly styles that look good..ever watch nip/tuck.. kimber has a really cute style with curls that are short

I have curly hair and layers work best. You should go somewhere really good for the first cut then go somewhere cheaper to keep it trimmed cuz, trust me I have curly hair and looooootttts of people can screw up curly hair cuts. I go to toni and guy and ask for their best stylist. It costs about 50$. You just have to get the right layer cut for curly hair. That way your get more shape. when i tried having my hair one length and long it came out looking...boxy....or somehting. Most people with curly hair have layers you just cant really tell cuz it was done right.
