Cute hairstyles for curly hair???

I have really frizzy curly brown hair. I usually straighten it with a ceramic flat iron but it's ruining the ends and I live in California where it's pretty humid so it curls my hair even when it's straight. I really need to know cute ideas that look good because I'm strongly considering chemically straightening it if I can't find anything... any help?

I used to chemically straighten and flat iron my hair, and it really wreaked havoc on my hair. I wear my hair curly now. I recommend that you grow it out sort of long so that the curls will be a bit weighed down. This will loosen the curl a bit and act sort of like a natural curl relaxer. When I shower, I wash my hair with Herbal Essences for dry hair, and then put a lot of Herbal Essences dry hair conditioner in it. While the conditioner is in my hair, I take a hair brush (not natural bristle...something that can detangle) and I brush my hair out completely. My hair tends to be tangly, so I start brushing from the ends and work my way up until I can run the brush through my hair without it getting caught. Next, I rinse out the conditioner, but I always leave a slight coating of conditioner on the hair...enough that I can still run my brush through it after rinsing, but not so much that there's a visible white residue in my hair. When I get out of the shower, I squeeze the water out, but I do NOT wrap my hair in a towel. As you get dressed and everything, periodically squeeze your hair with a towel as the ends get drippy. when you're ready to style, brush through your hair again. Add some gel and/or curl booster (I use Loreal Invisigel) and part your hair how you want it. At this point DO NOT tease or tousle your hair. Hairdressers with straight hair love to do this to my hair and think this is how it's done, but they are so wrong. At this point your hair should still be wet and brushed out. It may start to curl up a bit, which is fine. If it's not separating very well, simply run your fingers through your hair form top to bottom, like a comb. When you reach the bottom of the strands, gently cup the ends with your hand and push them up by making a fist. Your hair should do most of the curling work. Once you have finished this very slight scrunching action, spritz the hair with some flexible hold hairspray to control the flyaways that may begin to appear. Do not blowdry. If you need some body or lift at your root, you can gently flip your head over after about ten minutes and perform the slight scrunching motion. Let your hair airdry while spritzing with hairspray as needed. After the hair has mostly dried, my favorite trick is to define the outside curls with a curling iron (narrow barrel). To do this, spray the hair with a light mist of hairspray and then use the iron on a curl. I also recommend getting some light brown or blondish highlights in order to give some depth to your curls and make them stand out more.

This whole process takes a bit of time, but most of it is just drying time. You can just go to school/work with a semi-wet head or plan to do other things while your hair is drying. I make my bed, do my makeup, do some reading, and/or eat breakfast while my hair is drying.

i have the exact same problem and these pple who just answered knows nothing about curly hair. i have chemically straightened my hair ever since i was 17.. and its great!!!

but... it just doesnt stop there... u have to be ready to pay for regular treatments..hairdressers recommend once a month or even twice a month but in my experience once in 3 mths is sufficient. but get a really thorough n good spa treatment on ur hair.

and be sure to go back n have it touched up cuz when your natural hair grows out it'll look fug. if you're strapped for cash, just straighten then with your flat iron. but after 1 year u gotta go back to the hairdressers for another session of chemical treatments..

its bad for the hair but in my case i just cant take using the flat iron everyday anymore..and the end result is so great.. so this is my method. think carefully about it first then make a decision.

Hi first off make sure your straightner is a professional one two besides a good hair cut good products are essential depending on the length you are willing to go a shoulder length with medium to long layered haircut which frames the face and depending on your face shape where to start the layers around the face a good styling creme or pomade, shine spray would also help with frizz professional and change your shampoo and yes use conditioner at the least a leave in equave by revlon is excellent leave in . iso bouncy curl is awsome and will leave the hair feeling soft. I have the exact same hair as you and also live in CA. Don't chemically straighten - it is very damaging to your hair and the grow-out is terrible. Get the book Curly Girl on Amazon. I followed its advice and my hair has never looked better. I had always hated my curly hair and now I love it.

I have really curly hair too. What i do is i get leave in conditioner and smooth that in all over my hair from root to tip. Then let it air dry. Dont brush it becuase it will pull the curls apart and that makes it more curly. You can brush it when its wet or damp though. I like to pull the front back so its in like a half ponytail. That way it is out of your face but still looks really cute and shows off your curls. I hope this helps!

Hi! Okay, if you have curly hair, curl it a little, to make it a little softer. When you curl it, don't use the clamp, you don't want "tunnel" curls. take a section of hair, and wrap it around the barrel, holding it for a few seconds. Be careful not to burn your fingers! I've done that a couple times, ha ha!

After take two clips and put a quarter inch of hair up on the left side of your head. Clip it down and Repeat to the right side.

Thats one look. You can use product to make it shinier, or less frizzier, it all depends on you.

Here's a simple second one:

From the look you just created, leaving the clips in your hair, pull you hair back into a low pony tail. Tie it losely, bit strong enough that it won't fall out.

If you have bangs, pull them down and straighten them only a little, still keeping the same wave of the curls.

Add a little product, and you're good to go!! this one is really simple, but has a pretty classic look to it!

Then there's the crunch:

Take a shower, and apply crunchy mouse (when I say crunchy I mean a mouse that makes your hair 'crunchy') and let dry. you have use a hair band, or a ribbon or just leave as is to make your own.

(side note: I like the way 'the crunch' sounds :) )

This one, is a weird one, which I don't know why i like.

Repeat the steps from "the crunch", and then take three sections of hair on the left side of your head. Create three small to medium size braid, and tie with rubberband. Repeat to right side.

This one looks different, but not too noticibly weird, but I like it, you might want to try it when you don't have work or school just so you can see it for yourself!
